1 Corinthians 1-4

INTRODUCTION:

It has been estimated that an adult human makes around 35,000 decisions per day some conscious some subconscious. As your responsibilities grow, so do the number of decisions you make. Researchers at Cornell University estimate we make 226.7 decisions each day about food alone. Each decision, of course, carries certain consequences with it that are either good and bad.

If we had to consciously make 35,000 decisions each day I doubt any of us would enjoy life very much. Therefore each person has developed a filter to help them automate a great portion of those decisions.

- Past Experiences, for example can rule out certain decisions. EX: I tried that restaurant twice, bad food, bad service both times… I'm not doing it again.
- The Experiences of Friends, that's one of the reasons we develop tribes and community. It make it so that we don't have to personally experience every bad decision. You don't logically work through each one of them. Can you imagine how long it would have taken you to get to church if you had to consciously reason through each decision?

When a person comes to genuine faith in Jesus Christ, a massive new influence enters into the picture - the Word of God.
