Love at First Sight
Donald Cantrell
Ruth 2: 1 - 23
Valentine's Day Sermon
I - The Wishful Hap of Ruth (1 - 3)
II - The Wonderful Heart of Boaz (4 - 23)
III - The Warmful Hope of Mankind
This sermon contains a fully alliterated outline, with subpoints.
This is one of the easiest sermon introductions for me, because I can vouch for love at first sight, because it happened to me. I crammed four years of high school into five, hopefully you all can figure that math out. I was a redshirt senior in high school, due to my lackadaisical attitude towards attending class and doing homework as a sophomore.
The first day of school on my senior year, I was walking down the hallway with one of my friends and I saw this girl, I told my friend, I am going to marry that girl and he laughed and we went on our way to homeroom. When I got into my homeroom class, the guy that had been walking with this girl was sitting there, so I listened to him talking and found out they were not dating, but he liked her. I just sit there and listened, until I knew her name and that he had planned on sending her some roses that week.
As I walking into my first period biology class, guess who was sitting there, with her long brunette hair and silver braces, none other than the girl that I had fell in love with walking down the hall. I was a fifth-year senior and she was a true-blue freshman. I made my way over to her to a seat right behind her and before the week was out, I had me a date and she received two sets of roses, before the week was out.
We had our first date that Friday night, going to McDonalds and then to a movie, though we had the guy from homeroom seemingly following us. He did send her some roses, but he never got that date he was bragging about. That was in 1978 and we dated for three years, before I finally convinced her to marry me in January of 1981 and we have been married ever since. In two more weeks, we will be celebrating our 42-wedding anniversary ...
