DON'T GIVE ME THAT OLD TIME RELIGION
LUKE 5:27-39
Hope you have your Bibles open to our scripture, Luke chapter number 5, Luke
chapter number 5. You'll need a Bible. There's one in the pew if you did not bring
one. You may look on with someone seated by you. Luke chapter 5, verse 33
through 39.
"And they said to Jesus, 'The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers; the
disciples of the Pharisees also do the same; but Yours eat and drink.' And
Jesus said, 'You cannot make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while the
bridegroom is with them, can you? But the days will come when the bridegroom
is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.' And he was also
telling them a parable. 'No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it
on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new and the piece from the
new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins;
otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled out, and the
skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no
one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, 'The old is good
enough."'

practice right where we live. For we pray through Jesus Christ our living Lord.
Amen.
I am sure our Lord Jesus Christ many times had seen His mother patch garments that
had holes in them. It was a familiar scene, I think, in His home and in many poor
homes where something would get so worn out or a garment would be ripped that
you would have to put a patch on it to make it presentable. Also, I am sure our Lord
Jesus Christ looked many times on the wall and saw there a wineskin that was old
and cracked. And ...
