A Real Love
All I Want for Christmas
James Merritt
1 Corinthians 13
Introduction
1. We've been asked this question over and over, during the last several weeks "What do you want for Christmas?" Actually, as you get older and older you want less and less. You find yourself saying, "Well all I want for Christmas is..." and you may only mention one or at most two things. Well here's a few "All I want for Christmas," memes that I think you'll enjoy. [Jody- put the memes up on the screen]
2. Meme #1: All I want for Christmas this year is a fat bank account and a slim body please don't mix the two of them up like you did last year.
Meme #2: All I want for Christmas is you... I'm kidding baby. I want handbags, shoes, books, makeup, jewelry and gift cards.
Meme #3: All I want for Christmas is a free refill... of my wallet when I'm done shopping.

In fact, if we have these three things I don't really know what else you could ever want for Christmas that could be any better, any sweeter, that will bring you more joy or impact your life greater.
4. One of the things we talked about was a redeeming faith - a faith that truly connects you with God and a faith that truly changes you into what you need to be. The second thing we talked about was a resilient hope and we talked about the places you can put your hope in - both in this life and in the life to come that will never disappoint you.
5. Today, the last gift I want for Christmas is a real love, not a "I love you now but tomorrow is negotiable," like kind of love or not a "I love you as long as things go my way but when they don't..." kind of love. Certainly not the Hollywood kind of love that really is more lust than love. I want you to see today that real love comes from above.
