THE HIGH COST OF FAITHFULNESS
Hebrews 11:33-40
...finish up this great chapter of faith this morning, beginning with verse 32 going
through verse 40. Let's bow for prayer together as we begin our study.
Lord, it's always thrilling, it's always exciting to be in Your house. To
be here with men and women and young people who love you. Who are
interested in what You are interested in. Who desire to see this whole
world and the affairs of this age through the prism of Your Holy Spirit.
Lord, give us clarity of thought, give us insight into Your truth. You
speak, dear Father, let me get out of the way so that Thy word and Thy
message might be heard, it might received, and Lord, may we leave this
place and put it into practice, not just until we get to the parking lot, but
all the way through this week. Lord, for some here, so touched through
Thy spirit that life will be changed radically and forever. For we pray in
Jesus blessed and holy name. Amen.
As we have studied Hebrews 11, we have used a definition of faith. We all should
know it. Would you say it after me? Faith i& confident obedience to the word of God

regardless of consequences or circumstances. Did you notice I changed the cadence
on you? I did it to emphasize one word. And that is the word 'regardless,
regardless.' Hold that word. Don't get away from it. Take it and hide it in your head
and we will deal with it as we come to the end of Hebrews chapter 11. Because that
word 'regardless' in our definition is a very, very significant word.
Now we come to the 32nd verse here of our study and we see a listing of people.
They join all the men and women of faith we studied in Hebrews chapter number 11
and we have looked at 15 of them. We've engaged in a study of biography, because
in one sense, history is a story of people. But from our perspective as men and
women of faith. History is more than a story of people. It is a stor ...
