Blueprint for Prayer

Luke 11:1-4; Matthew 6:9-13
This is a message based on the Lord's Prayer. Great for a prayer series or beginning of New Year message!
Luke 11:1-4 (NASB95)
1It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, ''Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.''
2And He said to them, ''When you pray, say: 'Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
3'Give us each day our daily bread.
4'And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.' ''
Matthew 6:9-13 (NASB95)
9''Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
10'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
11'Give us this day our daily bread.
12'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.'
First of all, Jesus was praying in a certain place...A known place...
He had modeled a lifestyle that the disciples realized was THE core value where everything else flowed from...
So the question is...do you have a place? A time? Is there something that you are modeling to your children? Would they know if someone asked them? How do our babies learn to talk? Our sons/daughters learn to pray?
The same passage also records that John taught his disciples to pray...It is an essential part of the journey...
The Lord's Prayer has been taught and presented as blueprint, and I want to approach it on that basis...
If you want to build a house, a blueprint is essential...
We see that in the book of Acts, Chapter 2 it speaks of a blueprint for the early church...pretty basic but they gave themselves to the apostles teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer...that passage says that God added ...
