This message has to do with an angry culture, angry people and how we are called to ''rule'' over our spirit. Can be part of a series or a ''one-off''

28Whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls.


I love what Tim Keller writes ''Wisdom is not only for ''deep thinkers''. It is how you get through daily life. It helps you know what to do when your child comes home from school with a black eye, or when you suddenly come into unexpected money, or when you lose your job. ''


I love being around people with wisdom. It just feels different. It engenders confidence. Being around foolish people is the opposite. It's awkward at best and dangerous at worst.

Wisdom is also being able to discern the right thing to do from the wrong when there is no playbook...

There is not a bible verse for every decision you will face in life. For example the bible did not tell you who to marry. It did lay out some wise principles to guide you however.

Wisdom both given from God, accrued though life and there is a Holy Spirit element that can take the combination of learning and educational experience as well as the pain and weave together a walk of wisdom.

Much wisdom is also gained through pain...(don't think I will do that again right?!)
Much like an instruction manual for assembling things, the Word of God imparts incredible wisdom, character and guardrails to help us navigate. But how many of us read the instruction manual thoroughly?

I want to talk about something this weekend that the book of Proverbs, actually the whole bible as a whole addresses. Anger.

A state of indignation and outrage, often resulting from distress caused by injustice or insult. Scripture affirms God's righteous anger against sin and urges moderation in regard to human anger.
