1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.

We’ve seen that God blessed this man while he grew up and it was clearly evident that the Spirit of God was upon his life; but as with Gideon and Jephthah, the Spirit of God was upon them to empower them for service. Samson is the story of the man who could have been, the man with great potential, with great promise, but it was all wasted for the seeking of earthly pleasures.

I have known men and women, who just like Samson, have abandoned their great potential spiritually, for the pursuit of mates or other desires in this life. Men and women with some of the greatest promise and potential to do great things in God's work have abandoned it all to satisfy flesh that cannot be satisfied.

It reminded me of a man who called many years ago on the live Nightlight Radio Program, who asked for prayer to feel the Lord's presence. Then after asking him a simple question, and having no knowledge of his life, I asked him, “Who is she?”

It was immorality that kept him from God. Do you know that for 40 minutes offline that man spoke to one of our operators and for 40 minutes he refused to give up his immoral filthiness? Oh yes, we want you to pray for us Pastor Howard. We can't pray because our lives are so full of wickedness; but that won't matter if you pray for us Pastor Howard. Pray for me that I feel the presence of the Lord.

The problem wasn't that he didn’t feel the presence of the Lord, whatever that supposed to mean; the problem was that you're feeling that woman. That’s the problem. Until he got his hands off that woman, he didn't even know the Lord.

Samson's first and most formidable weakness was his lust for women; especially UNGODLY women!

2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters ...
