Genesis 9
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
These were the same instruction God gave to Adam and Eve when they were created. Now the blessings of populating the New World was given to Noah and his family
2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
This is something new here that was not a part of God’s instruction to Adam and Eve. First, in the beginning there existed no fear between Adam and he animal world. However, in the New World everything has changed. The animals would no have a natural terror of mankind.
Second, Noah would have dominion over the animal kingdom and for the first time we see that mankind began the eating of animals, whereas under Adam and Eve, they were eating only vegetation, and the like (1:29).
Third, there were restrictions placed on meat eating. No meat could be eaten with the blood. The reason had nothing to do with any Levitical laws obviously because there were none. The reason God commanded no eating of the blood was because God commanded it. He also made it clear that life was in the blood. Many have taken this prohibition to mean that this was given to prevent excesses of cannibal ferocity in eating flesh of living animals, to which men in the earlier ages of the world were liable. This seems to be the general consensus of many commentators, but I do not believe that. I, like Wesley, believe that blood made atonement for the soul. The life of the sacrifice was accepted for the life of the sinner ...
