1 And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.
Abraham lived a fruitful life with God blessing him in everything. The word blessed is an interesting word, which we have seen before. It means to kneel, prayer and praise. It speaks of blessing another through relationships.
God blessed Abraham because he knew God. The problems that many of us face today who call ourselves worshippers of God is that we really don’t know Him.
Oh, we may know some facts about Him, but do we know Him today? Have we come to see Him in the scriptures and have seen Him in operation in our lives? Do we recognize Him when He moves? Is the greatest blessing of your life and mine the continual, growing relationship between our creator and ourselves? Or do we see only materialism as a blessing from God. Don’t get me wrong, if God has blessed you through your financial efforts then praise God and use it for the gospel’s sake. But if you see that kind of blessing in this verse, you are looking incorrectly, because it’s not here. The greatest blessing of all is one’s relationship with God, and if that is not true with you and with me, then we better start quickly.
2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:
This is also another precious and amazing story of how the servant of Abraham got a wife for Isaac—a wonderful story indeed with many rich lessons. The servant that is referred to here is Eliezer.

3 And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
