DEPRESSION: CAUSE AND CURE
NUMBERS 10-14
Open your Bibles, if you would, to Numbers. We'll look at some passages
in the 10th Chapter and spend more time in the Ilth Chapter than in any
other place. Numbers; look at some verses in the 10th Chapter and then
over in the Ilth Chapter, as we pick up again our study of Moses.
Let's bow for prayer as we begin. "Father, it's been a beautiful day; to
be with family and friends, to be refreshed physically and spiritually. We
pray that Your Sabbath rest will have settled deep within us, preparing us
for tomorrow and this new week with all the responsibilities that go with
it. Lord, I pray now again, not tritely, not vainly, but I ask that You
will speak and let me get out of the way so that Thy word and Thy holy and
divine message might not only be heard, but may it be received and under-
stood and applied right where we live. For this is our petition through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
Can a Christian person who deeply believes in the Lord become so depressed
that they want to die? Moses was certainly God's man, and Moses got that
depressed. They had camped for over a year at the foot of Mount Sinai.
And we know that God gave to Moses those ten commandments on Sinai, but we
forget so many times that during that year God hammered out through Moses
to the people a way of life for His peculiar, called-out people. A pattern
for them to live as far as civil government, as far as religious government
was concerned. They were handed the tabernacle and all that it would mean.

They were given there the covenant. They were reaffirmed in their call by
God to go to Canaan, the promised land. And we see this recorded in the
27 chapters of Leviticus and the first nin ...
