Ask, Seek, Knock (8 of 9)
Series: Holy Semikah!

Matthew 7:7-12
As we’re packing/preparing to bring our OCC boxes next week, I want to share a remarkable story I read recently that took place in Zaire, Africa. A missionary doctor found himself in a tragic/desperate situation when a mother giving birth to a premature baby lost her life. In his desire to save the baby, the doctor tried to make an incubator to keep the baby alive, but the hot water bottle he had was broken, making it difficult to control the temperature inside the incubator to keep the baby’s temp steady. Believing God, the doctor gathered the children in the village for prayer and he asked them to pray for the baby and for her sister who was now an orphan. One of the children prayed, ‘‘Dear God, please send a hot water bottle today b/c tomorrow will be too late. And Lord, would you also send a doll for her sister so she won’t feel so lonely.’’ Later that day, unexpectantly, a large crate arrived from England. Eagerly, the children watched as it was opened - and to their amazement, under some clothing was a hot water bottle and a baby doll! God had supplied in advance what they needed before they even knew they had a need - as 5 mo. earlier, God had led a ladies’ group to include a hot water bottle and a doll in their package. My God shall supply...
I can’t help but wonder what God might be putting on your heart to send that will arrive in His perfect timing to answer another person’s prayer and need.
LBH - this isn’t the way we necessarily think and pray, is it? Even now, some of you are questioning if the story is true (it is). Maybe it’s b/c in our plenty, we’ve learned to rely on ourselves. Or maybe in our self-sufficiency, we’ve become too cynical to enjoy the miraculous. Whatever the case, too many of us have become weak in the area of prayer. And when we do pray, we tend to grow weary/lose heart b/c God hasn’t responded in the manner or timing we expected.
Sadly, ...
