Proposition- Christians should understand the facts and the implications of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
INTRODUCTION:
In the popular movie, Christmas Vacation, Chevy Chase playing the main character makes this statement about the Christmas star. ‘‘Well, that’s what it’s all about. Nothing else matters. Not the presents or the decorations. It means something to different to everyone, now I know what it means for me.’’
Well, that really clears things up. Christmas means something different for everyone. You just need to discover what it means to you.

Christmas is not something different for everybody. Christmas is about Christ. Christmas is about God doing something absolutely astounding in time and space.
I) CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT THE MOST AMAZING DISPLAY OF GOD’S PROVIDENCE IN SCRIPTURE-VS. 1-3
Providence is defined as ‘‘the sovereign, divine superintendence of all things, guiding them toward their divinely predetermined nature, all to the glory and praise of God. This divine, sovereign, and benevolent control of all things is the underlying premise of everything that is taught in the Scriptures.’’ Evangelical dictionary of Biblical theology.
God is moving and working in history to bring about his plans and his purposes. As a historian, Luke wanted us to understand this.
