THE ANOINTING
I John 2: 20-29
Hope you have your Bible open to I John. We're going to look at four verses
tonight. It seems today we've looked at four verses all day long. In two
or three thousand years, we'll get through the wita'ie borik 'I-Ike this. I Ulo@,n,
Chapter Number 2, Verse 20 through 23.
How many took a nap this afternoon? Would you lift your hand, There you
go! t can tell when football season'& over-. A cloudy day. I took onL- th4,&
afternoon. It was great. Everybody found I John? Let's pray before we
look at these verses.
"Father, thank You for the spirit of worship tonight. Thank You for those
who lead us in music, those who direct us and teach us how to sing Thy praises,
how to listen to the good news as it is proclaimed. Lord, You be our Teacher
and our Guide as we look at these verses in John tonight. Let me get out of
the way so that Thy word and Thy holy and divine message might be heard, re-
ceived and incorporated into our lifestyles. For we make this prayer in the
strong, holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and our Lord. Amen."
I've noticed something across the years that most people who reject Christianity
really reject a caricature of Christianity. They reject the Lord as Savior,
as the Son of God, they think. But actually, they reject some false witness,
some false christ, and not the Lord Jesus Christ we know personally, and the
Lord Jesus Christ that literally leaps out from the pages of this book.

That's a great strategy of Satan. If Satan can tell you, "This is Jesus
Christ. This is what you do to be a Christian. You believe this. You follow
this. You adhere to these instructions." And you say, "I can't do that."
