GATHERING OR SCATTERING?
I John 2:15-17

Always frightened of this new little microphone Mr. Dodds has put on me here.
There's some horrible stories about preachers who forgot to turn them off.

Hope you opened your Bibles tonight to First John. Contrary to your bulletin,
weire not quite there yet, to get on with the antichrist which is the latter
part of this chapter. We're going to zero in on about three verses. First
John, Chapter Number 2, Verse 15, 16, and 17, we have not dealt with adequately
and will seek to touch upon these three tremendous words tonight in this
service of worship. Let's bow for prayer as we begin.

"Father, You've touched us tonight. As we listen, as we sing about that day
when truly - it's almost unspeakable, Father - but we shall behold Thyself
and Thy Son. Lord, we pray tonight that You will give us a touch of that
reality. You speak. Le't nie get out of the way so that Thy Word and Thy
holy and divine message alone might be heard. For we make this prayer in the
name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and our Lord. Amen."

If somebody asked you, "What breaks your fellowship with God?" how would you
answer that? You once felt close to God, now you do not feel close to God,
and the old question: "Who moved?" Then we have to ask, "What breaks a man
or a woman's fellowship with God?" The answer: The world. Right? The world.
The world. Now, in the Bible when you see the word "world," it can apply
to three different things. When you see the word "world," it can mean this

planet, this earth, nature - all of it - the created order...the world. So,

you see "world" it means the planet. When you see the word "world" it can

mean the inhabitants, the human beings on that planet. Or, when you see the

word "world" it can ...
