We started a collection of sermons last week called Faith Steps.

I want to take us on a journey to challenge us over the next few weeks to get out of our comfort zone and take steps of Faith.

Hebrews 11:1 tells us faith is ‘‘Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Faith is stepping into the unknown and trusting that the Lord will provide.

No great acts are read about in history that did not require a step of faith.
Maybe not spiritual faith; they might have called them risk, but either way, they were steps of faith.

Find the person that started a company, and you find a person who took a faith step.

Find the Pastor who planted a church and find a Pastor who took a faith step.
Find the one that gave up money (security) to follow what the Lord called them to do - a step of faith.

We live in a world today that wants to control things.
We want to control our retirement.
We want to control our time.
We want to control our kid’s outcome...
Put them in a sport to grow up and do something completely different.

Yet, faith steps are steps we take in which we have no control over.

We started this series talking about Gideon in Judges 6.
Gideon was a judge in a time when there was no King in Israel.

Judges 17:6 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit.

The Lord came to Gideon and told him he was to fight against the Midionites.
A group of people who had put Israel in Oppression.

Remember what I read you last week. Judges 6:2 Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds.

As a result, you get to
Judges 6:6 Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the Lord for help.

So God tells Gideon he is a mighty warrior. Yet, Gideon says, NOPE I am weak!!!
