The Law (1 of 4)
Series: The Coming of the Christ

Psalm 40:7
There is a misconception in our society and even in Christendom that Jesus first came on the scene in the New Testament. From a physical standpoint, He was born during the period of time we accept as the New Testament. The Bible teaches us in John 1:14, ‘‘And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.’’ From the point of His existence, He’s always been here. Genesis 1:26 gives us proof of that when God said, ‘‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.’’ The question that arises here is, who was God talking to? Based on my understanding of Scripture, God was speaking to the other members of the Trinity, namely, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. With respects to that, the Son has always been in existence.
One of the things I love and understand about God is that He is a God of order and does everything with a purpose. When it comes to knowing and understanding how God operates, we find that He tells us in advance what He’s doing or is getting ready to do. The same is the case with respects to The Coming of the Christ. He divinely placed things in the Scriptures to show us (1) who Christ is; and (2) why there was a need for Him to come.
What I’d like to do for the next few weeks is share with you that God knew man would be in need of a savior and He took the steps to ensure we would have one, and not just any savior, but the right and best savior ever. That Savior is Jesus and today we will be looking at the Books of the Law and see how the Bible has been foretelling of The Coming of the Christ.
Our text today is found in the Book of Psalms. The Preacher’s Outline and Sermon Bible says, ‘‘As David wrote about his personal experience, the Holy Spirit used David’s words to speak prophetically about the human experience of Jesus Christ. The birth, life, death, and ...
