I Kings 21:1-29

read verse 1 and 2 of II Chronicles 25.
lamaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign,
and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his
mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
2And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but
was, but not with a perfect heart.
Keep that in your mind. "He did what was right in the sight of the
Lord, but not with a perfect heart". Let's pray together.
Father speak to us agatit tarrtgitt, as ycru ha-ve througb these ch-l'idren,
through these young musicians, through the way they have blessed us in
this service; their zest, their spontaneity, their faith. We're
thankful that you already dealt with us in a tender way, now deal with
us in a very direct way through the preaching and the proclamation of
Thy Word. Lord you speak, let me get out of the way is our prayer
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Maybe you've never heard of Amaziah before. He's just one of those many
old kings in the Old Testament. Nothing too important about him except
one thing stands out in my mind, that was when the Edomites began to be
a threat to Amaziah and those in Judah. And Amaziah taxed all the
people, he raised a lot of money, he trained an army to defend his
people, and then as the Edomites were trying to bring down his
civilization, Amaziah led the army to battle and defeated the Edomites.
