MOTIVATION FOR GIVING
I Corinthians 16:1-2
1 invite you to open your Bibles this morning to Matthew, chapter number
6. We'll begin with verse 19. For those of you who are visiting here
this morning you've picked a super Sunday to come. This is our annual
pledge Sunday, which we're seeking this morning to pledge a budget of
$10,400,000 plus. And we're delighted you are here to see and to
observe how a people of faith attempt to do something that is absolutely
impossible unless God intervenes in a supernatural way and that's what
weire praying about this morning, the church family here at Second
Baptist. Hope you have your Bibles open to Matthew, chapter number 6.
By the way, I enjoy speaking on money. I used to not like to do it, but
now I love to see the tight-wads squirm, and I love to see those who are
generous smile and enjoy it. So, let me say that by way of explanation.
Matthew 6:19, following:

Jesus], where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves
break through and steal:
20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not
break through nor steal:
21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.---
- 2
Then verse 24 of the same chapter:
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the
one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one,
and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Let's pray together.
Father, we're here in this place, in this hour to do business with You.
We trust that you will move with such power that you will touch the
hardest, coldest heart that is gathered here in Thy name. Give us a new
insight into your bibl ...
