Let's bow for prayer together.

Father, we ask today that there may be a holy hush over this assembly. May there be reverence and prayerfulness and a time of soul-searching for all of us who have gathered in this place. Lord, we need Thee every hour. Especially do we need Thee now as Thou dost come near to us in worship and praise, in prayer, in confession, in proclamation. Some here need to have their sins forgiven. They need to turn from iniquity and wickedness and hypocrisy and chicanery.

Some here are tired of living in the shallows, a life surrounded with deceit and lies and immorality. Lord, deal with those. Others here, Father, are in the valley of despair and depression and despondency. Come and encourage these. May this be a moment in which all of us are strangely and uniquely in tune with Thee and with the real world of real value, the world of spiritual truth and reality. Lord, You speak, let me get out of the way so that Thy word and Thy truth alone might not only be heard but may it be received and understood and incorporated into our lifestyles. For we make this prayer through Jesus Christ, our living Lord. Amen. In the middle of the largest air force base in all the world, there is a special room. Only those who have top clearance are allowed to go into this room. On one wall is a map of the world. And on that map are all the airplanes of the armed forces of the United States. In the center of the room there is the officer in charge. He has men assigned 24 hours a day to literally move those airplanes at his command. Military orders, sealed assignments, regulations, weather conditions all are at hand. This room operates without sleep. Brief time periods are employed by those who literally spend their working hours in this strategic place.
