‘‘Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be case out, and to be trodden under foot of men.’’

Anybody who loves to cook, or more importantly, who loves to eat, knows what happens to food if you don’t put enough seasoning on it. Once the plate is in front of you, you take that first bite of the food and immediately determine if it needs anything to help with the taste. If it is determined that there’s something missing, you usually don’t go looking for ground Sage, or ground Ginger, Paprika, ground Rosemary, ground Thyme, or even Creole Seasoning - you usually go looking for Salt and/or Pepper! Some people like to add Garlic Salt or even Lemon Pepper to their food, but because of the mixture, it doesn’t always give the desired effect as true Salt and Pepper can deliver.
I said all that to say this...God doesn’t need us adding outside things or the world’s influence to ourselves because He wants us to be True Disciples for His kingdom. Many people try to add things to make them appear to be more individualized, but you can never be more of an individual than to be what and who God made you to be. Your life carries a certain level of distinctiveness with it and you are the only one who can truly be you!! God made you that way and wants to use you for His kingdom purposes. He has made you and me to be ‘‘seasoning’’ in the earth to give it that distinctiveness He’s looking for! Once we have accepted His Son, Jesus Christ, as Lord and savior, all He wants is for us to be True Disciples!!
So what is a true disciple? By definition, the word true means to be real, genuine, and authentic;’’ and the word disciple means ‘‘a person who is a pupil or an adherent of the doctrines of another; a follower.’’ So a true disciple therefore is one who is ...
