A STUMBLING BLOCK
Revelation 2:12-17

Let's go to the Lord in prayer together.

Our heavenly Father, still us and quiet us in Your presence. May we
feel an unusual sense of the supernatural in this hour of gathering.
Deal with us individually and collectively. We open up our hearts, our
minds, our lives. Father, reveal secrets, get down into the
subconscious areas, and, Lord, may this be a moment of healing and
forgiveness and cleansing for many, many gathered here in this place.
You speak, dear Father. Let me get out of the way so that Thy Word and
Thy Holy and divine message might not only be heard, but may it be
received and understood and applied and incorporated right where we
live. For we make this prayer in the strong name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
I hope you have your Bibles open to our scripture this morning found in
Revelation, chapter 2, verse 12 through verse 17. We're studying the
seven churches of Revelation. We know that Jesus Christ, our living
Lord, was the author, and we know that John, on the Isle of Patmos was
the mailman. He was the amanuensis. He was the secretary who recorced
these words. Let's look at the first verse we're studying, verse 12,
Revelation 2:

12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These
things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges.

We know the angel of the church was the pastor of the church. We do not
know the man who was pastor of the church at Pergamos at this time, but
this letter was written specifically to him. And then look at the next
phrase there in the verse. It says, "...the church in Pergamos."
