Praying God’s Way (15 of 28)
Series: Principles of Kingdom Living

Matthew 6:9-13
‘‘After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.’’
Matthew 6:9-13
Praying is something so important that Jesus made it a point to get away to pray. He knew the significance of prayer and the power and potential found in prayer. When His disciples approached Him to teach them how to pray, He made sure to give them a model that would cover every aspect of life during their time of prayer. It worked for them then, and it still works for us now!
I have learned and am learning that when God wants to get a point across, He repeats Himself and prayer is no exception. Here’s what I’m getting at:
• The word pray is found in 306 verses of the King James Bible;
• The word prayed is found in 65 verses of the King James Bible;
• The word prayer is found in 107 verses of the King James Bible;
• The word praying is found in 20 verses of the King James Bible.
In some instances, the word pray is used in the form of asking someone to do something, and when you think of what prayer is, it’s the same principle. One thing of note here is that all of these verses are not necessarily commands from God, but rather a combination of receiving God’s command and their response to it. When the doctor tells you that reducing your salt intake is good for you, your response should be to reduce your salt intake because of the benefits associated with it. God has given us the command and instruction to pray as there are benefits to them, and our response should be to pray in order to see how God honors His word and His promises.
