Matthew 7:7-11
‘‘Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?’’
Matthew 7:7-11
One of the greatest resources given to the church, and probably the most under utilized, is prayer! If you were to take a look through the Bible, you will find that people have been praying since the beginning of recorded time, and they have been receiving answers and blessings from God. Prayer must be important as Jesus Himself made it a point to ‘‘still away’’ from the disciples and the crowd, so He would spend time with the Father in His ‘‘prayer closet.’’ Let me ask a question...is there room for you in your prayer closet? Have you put things in there that would not allow you the room necessary to get in there and ‘‘get a prayer through?’’ I’m talking about things like, ‘‘I don’t have time to spend any time in my prayer closet,’’ or ‘‘I can do things on my own and don’t need a prayer closet.’’ Are there cobwebs in your prayer closet due to lack of use and occupancy? Are there other things occupying your prayer closet space because you haven’t been occupying it yourself? God gives us 24 hours in a day and some of that time should be dedicated to spending quality time with God, building our relationship with Him, and sending up our petitions regarding those things in life that only He can do for us!
Another thing I’ve noticed about prayer is that it’s free! It only costs you a little bit of the time God has blessed you with. ...
