‘‘Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.’’

If you want something to stand throughout the test of time and chance, it needs to have a firm foundation. It’s been said that if you want to construct a very tall building going up, you must dig deeper for the foundation. For the most part, you have to dig down about 2-3 feet in order to establish a firm foundation for a house; but for a skyscraper, you’ve got to go down a whole lot deeper.

The foundation is necessary as it keeps the building grounded and stabilizes it during rough times. Nature is so strong that it has the ability to take a house off its foundation and throw it in some cases, yards or miles away. The right foundation can keep a house intact even during the toughest of storms.

Your spiritual foundation determines just how much you will be thrown around during tough times. If you work on your spiritual growth and development, no matter what comes your way, you know that with you and the Lord, you can handle it.
