Ephesians 4:17-24
You’ve probably heard the phrase: ‘‘Out with the Old. In with the New.’’ That phrase literally means... you’ve got to move forward. But it suggests that... in order to move forward, you’ve got to remove some things... or let go of some things... with the expectation of gaining something even better.
That’s a great picture of the Christian life. It’s a picture of a person that’s had a wardrobe change and is now living their life... in Christ-as a completely different person!
Today, from the [book of Ephesians], Paul is going to tell us, as born-again members of the church, that if I am a Christian-I’m a new creation... Which means, I’ve experienced what it’s like to be... Out with the old... and in with the new! ...and never to be the same again.
One of the most popular shows on HGTV is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. On this show, designers have one week to completely renovate an old house and make it into a home for some lucky family. The show is usually very uplifting and emotional, especially at the end when the family gets to see their new home.
If you’ve watched this show, you know... at the time of the reveal, the house is full of brand-new furniture and new rugs and other items throughout the house. But did you know... that the family doesn’t get to keep all the new stuff? They don’t. They are given the opportunity to purchase it, after the show is over... but these things are not given to them for free.
