We’re in a series on the Ten Commandments called, ‘‘10 Words,’’ and it’s based on a single verse in Deuteronomy 10 (from the Jewish Bible):

4 The Lord wrote on the tablets the Ten Words that he has spoken to you on the mountain.

The first commandment reads, ‘‘You shall have no other gods before me.’’ The Hebrew Bible reads, ‘‘No gods!’’ The second commandment states, ‘‘You shall not make any graven images.’’ The Hebrew Bible says, ‘‘No idols!’’ The third commandment is, ‘‘You shall not take the Lord’s name in vain.’’ God simply said, ‘‘No profanity!’’

That brings us to the fourth commandment (Exodus 20) which is the longest of any of the ten in our English Bibles:

8 Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God.
10 On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.
11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

‘‘Moonlighting’’ is an actual word, a noun, and it means ‘‘... to work at another job, usually at night, in addition to one’s full-time job.’’

When I was in college we were required to read a short, paperback book by Dr. S.I. McMillan titled, ‘‘None of These Diseases.’’ The basic premise of the book is simple: if man will just follow the elementary teachings of the Bible, he will live the healthiest life possible.

For example, one of the Old Testament restrictions is the command to not eat unclean meat. Food was often consumed without being thoroughly cooked. Had Israel known that, trichinosis could have been avoided.
