Finding Comfort in a Time of Crisis

1 Corinthians 1:3-4
INTRODUCTION:
Blessed is euleto. The word means to be praise or well spoken of. It is a word of praise and adoration in the NT. The equivalent of shouting Praise the Lord! Or Glory!
Paul often used it.
Ephesians 1:3
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
1 Peter 1:3
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
It is used in connection with a blessing. Paul and Peter were praising God because of something they had received. Often it was salvation.
In this passage Paul praises God for the comfort he received in the trials of his life.
2 Cor. 11:25-29
Yet, in chp. 4:1 He states that we do not lose heart. We do not quit or get discouraged.
In fact, He starts the book with Blessed!
In the trials and the tragedies of life he had gone from pain to praise.
Many of us understand tragedy. We have suffered an unexpected illness. Lost a friend or family member Just this week our church and community reeled under the loss of a young man full of promise and life.
Can we go from pain to praise? How?
I believe we find three truths in this passage. This verse unlocks the keys of moving from misery to worship. Understanding this helps to move us to praise even when our hearts are broken.
I) WE FIND COMFORT IN WHO JESUS IS- ‘‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ’’ The title presents Jesus’ relationship to God and his relationship to you and I.
A) HE WAS A MAN- God. . . . of our Lord Jesus Christ. This emphasizes the humanity of Jesus Christ. He was fully human.
Hebrews 4:15-16
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.16 Let ...
