THE SON OF THUNDER

Luke 9:54-56

Hope you have your Bibles open to the gospel according to Luke, the
ninth chapter, Luke 9, reading verses 52 through verse 56. Luke
9:52-56.
And sent messengers before His face and they went and
entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for
Him.
And they did not receive Him because His face was as
though He would go to Jerusalem.
And when His disciples James and John saw this, they
said, "Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down
from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah [sic] did?
But he turned and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not
what manner of spirit ye are of.
For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives,
but to save them. and they went to another village.
Let's pray together. Father, there's so many chords of str-ife and so
much pushing and shoving and moving and pressure here and questions
there and fear here and frustration there that so many times we have a
difficult time even coming to church and being quiet before Thee. But,
oh Lord, still that heart in this hour. Steady that mind. Sensitize
anew that conscience. Lord, You speak, let me get out of the way so
that Thy Word and Thy message and Thy truth might not only be heard but

Lord may it be received and understood and incorporated into our life-
styles. Father, we pray that we'll never be the same because you have
dealt with us in this place at this time for we pray through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
