Ephesians 2:11-22
I wonder what it would be like... to actually live... in the UNITED States of America? You say, ‘‘Well, we do live in the United States,’’ and yet, I’d argue that today... because as I evaluate the world we live in; I’d say the United States is as DIVIDED today... as we’ve been in well over 100 years. Just watch the news for about 10 minutes... and you’ll see it for yourself.
It’s no longer just black vs white... or Democrat vs. Republican... or Liberals vs. Conservatives. Now it’s also the... Rich vs. the Poor. The educated vs. the uneducated. The 1% vs. the 99%. And everybody seems to be picking sides.
We live in a world today where the media always seems to have a motive...
And our borders have become battle lines.
We live in what seems to be a never-ending fight between gun-control and gun rights... We have CRT, and BLM and ROE vs WADE. It’s crazy... because our country was founded on Biblical principles... but today Religious Liberty is under attack.
We have parties fighting for seats on the Supreme Court... we’re fighting for the sanctity of marriage... we’re fighting for unborn babies...
The reality is: We live in a warzone... where people are divided. And we’re not only divided geographically and politically... we’re also divided by our economy... by our ideologies... our methodologies... and our polities...
Part of me wonders if the United States has EVER been truly united. But even more importantly... I can’t help but wonder... if we will ever BE united.
You know... We aren’t the first group of people on planet earth to lack unity.
When Paul wrote this letter called ‘‘Ephesians’’ to the believers that were living in Ephesus... he was writing to citizens in a city that resembled the world we live in today. A city divided.
