Proverbs 11-12
We are studying the book of Proverbs on Sunday mornings as we look at selected chapters through this Old Testament book. Today, from Proverbs 11-12, we’re talking about the sermon subject, Principles for Godly Living. Remember, last week we talked about how important it is to live with wisdom.
Now, I’m sure there are many ways to define wisdom but for the purposes of our study, here’s our definition: wisdom is the supernatural ability to see life from God’s perspective. And we all need wisdom! Remember, ‘‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.’’ (ON SCREEN)
*We use google to search for all sorts of things. We ask questions about history, geography, statistics, pop culture, and so much more. In fact, I discovered recently that a lot of us go to google when we don’t know how to do something. Some of the most popular searches on google are ‘‘how to’’ searches. One of the most popular ‘‘how to’’ searches on google is ‘‘how to boil an egg.’’ I’m not lying, that’s really true. Others searched, ‘‘how to fix a toilet.’’ And another popular search was, ‘‘how to eat with chopsticks.’’ Another one that is very popular these days, ‘‘how to write a check.’’ Do you know why it’s so popular? The younger generation has never even owned a checkbook, much less written checks. So, when they don’t know how, they turn to google. Here’s one that was a bit more concerning. Apparently, ‘‘how to pick a lock’’ is a top search on google. Let’s assume the best and hope you just locked yourself out of your own house or a room in your house. People want to learn how to play the guitar, or how to solve the rubix cube, or how to divide fraction. You can imagine there were a lot of searches on ‘‘how to lose weight’’ or ‘‘how to get a six pack.’’ There was one that I searched for recently; ‘‘how to get rid of fruit flies.’’ My goo ...
