For several weeks we have been studying selected chapters in the book of Proverbs in a sermon series I’m calling, Wisdom for Living. Remember, wisdom is the supernatural ability to see life from God’s perspective. (ON SCREEN) And we need God’s perspective in every area of our lives. Today, from Proverbs 21, we are given an important principle that all of us need to remember - God Is In Control. Let’s read a few selected verses in this chapter. READ 1-3, 5, 21, 30-31 - PRAY
*I would assume that everyone knows what this is. Even those of you who like to sit way up high in the nosebleed sections, you can probably tell all the way up there. It’s one of our favorite devices in the modern home, especially during football season. Of course! You know what it is. It’s a remote control. Most likely in your home, this is an important little device. Now, when I was growing up, there was a time we didn’t even have a television in our home. Then, when we got one, we got all the local channels through antenna. And sometimes, my job was to go move the antenna around a certain way to make sure the channel would come in properly. True story! And yes, I can remember there were times we used a bit of tinfoil to make sure the channels came in even better. Well, today, we have made so many advancements in our entertainment that we have all sorts of conveniences. I don’t know if you realize this but in a home with five children, the remote control goes missing occasionally. And when it comes time to find it, the same person is responsible every single time. Do you know who that is? You probably have this person in your home as well. The person’s name is ‘‘Not Me.’’ ‘‘Kids, where’s the remote?’’ ‘‘We don’t know, dad!’’ ‘‘Well, who had it last?’’ ‘‘Not me!’’ These days, some smart television manufacturers who have developed apps you can put on your phone that control the TV exactly like a remo ...
