Spiritual Order

Genesis 2:9, 16-17
Today we want to talk about getting things in their proper order in our lives.
My brother and I shared a bedroom together for all of our childhood. It was a small room with bunk beds and a desk and dressers, so mind you it got cluttered pretty quickly. Things would build up from us not putting our clothes away to leaving our school books out and not making our beds. But every few months, probably when my mother yelled at us loud enough, we would clean our room. And we would do an immaculate job of cleaning everything, vacuuming the room and even dusting off the baseball trophies that had accumulated over the years. We were so proud on those rare occasions of cleaning our room to bring my mom in to see it spotless. Unfortunately the spotlessness only lasted about 2 days and we were back to normal mess again.
It is the same with our spiritual lives. We meet Jesus and we are forgiven, we are clean. We want to serve Him and save the world. We want to live a holy life that is pleasing to Him, but we find messes starting to accumulate when we are not disciplined to live connected and close to Jesus, staying in communication with Him. When we don’t allow His word to cleanse our way of thinking, we can easily fall back into our old ways, we can lose touch with the truth of God’s Word and once again believe lies and find ourselves in defeat.
Because of what Christ has done for us, we have been saved, redeemed, forgiven and made new, but we can easily slip back into patterns of the past, messy mindsets, arrogant attitudes and bad behavior, not living in the freedom that Jesus purchased for us.
We are here today to get an adjustment. Like going to the Chiropractor and getting your back adjusted so that the rest of you comes into alignment, we too need an adjustment to come back into the proper SPIRITUAL ORDER.
