Micah 4:1-13

I spend much of my day, whether at work or at home, checking the time. So much of our lives is controlled by the numbers on the clock because there are things attached to each of those numbers.
• They tell us when it is time to wake up and time to be at work.
• They tell us when it is time for meetings and appointments.
• They tell us when we can go to lunch and when we can get off work and go home.
• They point to upcoming deadlines for projects.
• They tell us when it is time to go to bed.

The bible is concerned with time as well. Not so much in terms of hours and minutes, not even in days or years but seasons, epochs, periods, or events. They are important. They are set. They are determined.

God has placed those times on history’s calendar. God has not shared His calendar with us so we cannot pinpoint them. We cannot postpone or reschedule. God has simply told us that there are some big and important days coming.

Over the last decade or so, one of the newer fads when it comes to weddings or big events is the ‘‘save the date’’ card. He hands all of us a ‘‘save the date’’ card for a big day on God’s calendar of redemptive history, minus the date of course. Micah calls it the last days.

Micah 4.1-13 - And it will come about in the last days that the mountain of the house of the Lord will be established as the chief of the mountains. It will be raised ab ...
