John 17:6-12


Intercession comes from the Latin word that means ‘‘to go between.’’ The idea is that you act on behalf of both individuals
to bring them together. In prayer it is bringing the needs of someone before God on their behalf. It is praying for them
because they have asked you or because you recognize their need.

Intercessory prayer made be defined as loving others on our knees.
1. Moses prayed that God would forgive the sin of Israel in making a golden calf while he was up on Mount Sinai (Exodus 32:32).

2. Samuel in his farewell address to the nation told the people that he would continue to pray for the nation even though they had chosen Saul to be their king (I Samuel 12:23).

Intercessory prayer is bringing the needs of others before the Lord.
After praying that God would be glorified by his death (:1-5),
Jesus brings the needs of his disciples before his heavenly Father.

REVEALED HIS CHARACTER :6
Manifested (NIV revealed) - Gk. to expose or make known.
One of the ministries of Jesus was to reveal the Father (1:18).
It is to show or to unfold the truth or to lead the way.
The first miracle which Jesus did was to change water into wine
(about 120 gallons) which revealed his divine nature (2:11).

Name - refers to all that God is: his beauty, character, glory, majesty and power. The disciples had seen Jesus show them
who God was though compassion, miracles and his teaching.
14:9 Jesus said . . . ‘‘He who has seen me has seen the Father.’’

Who you gave me - refers to the 12 disciples who had heard the truth he spoke and saw the miracles. They would be the original witnesses as a result of having been with Jesus for three years.
I John 1:1 That which we have heard, which we have seen with
our eyes, which we have looked upon and have touched with
our hands, concerning the word of life - we proclaim to you.
Yours they were - because physically everyon ...
