Why the Wilderness
Jerry Watts
Numbers 13-14

In Exodus 12 - Thru Moses, God led His people out of bondage, captivity, and slavery, sending them to the promised land (400 yrs). That is, the Land that had been promised to their father, Abraham. For generations, they had heard sermons preached about it, lessons taught about it, casual conversations about it, they dreamed about it, and now they were headed toward it. They left slavery and servitude on the way home.

Interesting, in Numbers 13 (2 to 6 months later) they were on standing at Kadesh-Barea looking into, scouting out, and seeing the riches of the land that was the very dream of every young Hebrew. The question today is this, ‘‘why’’ did happen? Why did God sentenced His Children (Israel) to wander around the wilderness for 40 years? Why the wilderness? (This is not just history, this HIS STORY for us.) Have you ever been in one?

Please understand this dynamic, God created mankind to walk with Him, honor Him, and love Him. But since ...
