1 Corinthians 4:10-20
Introduction:
I heard about one pastor talking to another pastor. He said, ‘‘Listen, brother. I need you to pray for me. Pray that I would stay humble.’’ And the guy looked at him and he said, ‘‘Well, why wouldn’t you stay humble? What do you have to be proud about?’’ He said, ‘‘Why, I’ve just as much right to be proud as you do.’’ Well, what is that? You know he had a lot of pride working there.
Friends, we have come to a passage of Scripture in which Paul has to correct these carnal Christians who have become puffed up and proud and were saying that they could do want they wanted since Paul would never return! Paul reminds then that they better repent, for if they continued in their worldly ways, he would come with a rod of correction, but if they humbled themselves, then he would come to them in love and compassion!

10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
Paul is dealing with pride in the church, and he gets a little sarcastic with them. He says we are fools for Christ! The word for ‘‘fools’’ means,
mo-ros’
Probably form the base of G3466; dull or stupid (as if shut up), that is, heedless, (morally) blockhead, (apparently) absurd: - fool (-ish, X -ishness).
Paul is saying that you all think we are blockheads, who are dull and stupid, and absurd. You are so proud; you need to be knocked down a couple of notches! Why? Because they thought they were strong and Paul was weak. They were strong and honorable, but Paul was despised! Do you get the picture? The Corinthians were so proud of who they were!
They were bragging on who had baptized them, and of how they were students of Paul, or Apollos, or Peter, and some even claimed that Jesus baptized them! They had a problem with pride that caused them to think that they were super Chris ...
