Habakkuk 3:1-19

I. Introduction

Hey, if you’re just joining us for the first time, let me get you caught up real fast: for the past few weeks we’ve been working through a small but important book in the Bible called Habakkuk. In Hebrew, Habakkuk either means he wrestles or he embraces, which is super-appropriate because the book of Habakkuk is basically the story of someone who wrestled with God but ultimately came to embrace faith in the very God he had wrestled with.

For all kinds of reasons, we don’t fully understand God. So how do we embrace a God we don’t fully understand? And the answer is, We embrace God by faith.

And if you were with us last weekend, that’s not a big surprise to hear, because in the middle of God’s second answer to Habakkuk, that’s basically what He said. He said, ‘‘the righteous will live by faith.’’ That’s Habakkuk 2:4. And some translations say ‘‘by faith’’ and some say, ‘‘by faithfu ...
