Series: The Story I’ll Tell

Job 14:1

Everybody has a story... and for most of us here today... our stories include some pretty amazing things... They include miracles and memories, relationships, and real love. Most of us have been blessed with beautiful things throughout our lives...

...but unfortunately... not everything has been beautiful. Has it?

You see... I’d be willing to bet that many of our stories also include things like trials and pain... difficulties and loss... hurts, habits, and hang-ups ... Right? Every single one of us could most likely take some paper and a pen... and write down... right now... (not only how great life has been... but also...) how HARD life has been.

I’ve never heard a sermon where the preacher said... ‘‘Life on earth is easy’’ ... but sometimes I think we have an expectation that it should be easy... if we truly follow Jesus.

I don’t know where that thought process came from... but there’s something there that says, ‘‘If I love God and trust God and follow God... my life should be free from trouble and tragedies... and full of blessings.’’

He said, ‘‘You will have suffering in this world.’’ And when He said that... (believe it or not) He was talking to Christians... He was talking to people like us... people that genuinely loved him.

Jesus promises His disciples (He promises us) that we WILL experience trouble. He said we’ll experience difficulties... and pains... and problems... in this world... but He also reminds us that There is purpose in every problem.

[Romans 8:28] says, ‘‘We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.’’

What this says to us... is that... If you love God today... If you’re call ...
