In the year 1987, ...500 people gathered in Dallas, Texas to watch a man named Paul Tavilla attempt to beat his own world record.

His previous world record was for catching a grape in his mouth... from the top of a 52-story building in Tokyo, Japan... which was 660 feet in the air. But now, he was in Dallas... attempting to catch another grape from 72 stories in the sky!

He only had 3 chances. A hush came over the crowd as the first grape dropped... but he missed, and it exploded on the sidewalk. The second grape was dropped... and he missed that one as well. Finally, as third grape was dropped, the crowd watched anxiously... as a gust of wind took the grape off course... After doing his very best to make it to the grape, the gust of wind was too much for Paul... and the grape ended up hitting a patron in the face, right below his right eye.

After the failed attempt was over, a reporter interviewed the man who was hit by the grape. The reporter asked, ‘‘Are you alright?’’ The man said, ‘‘Yes, I’m fine.’’ The reporter then asked, ‘‘Are you disappointed you didn’t see a world record today?’’ And the man responded, ‘‘What really bothers me... is that if I had just moved my head back 3 inches and opened my mouth... I WOULD BE the new world record holder!’’

As I read that story this week, I thought... What are THE CHANCES... of someone catching a grape in their mouth from 72 stories above? Your chances would be slim to none, right? The odds... would certainly be against you!

What many people don’t realize about the Bible... is that at the time of Christ... there were many men throughout Israel that were claiming to be the Messiah. You can just imagine the confusion... ‘‘I’m the Son of God’’ ... ‘‘No, I’m the Chosen One’’ ... ‘‘No, I’m the Promised One.’’ So, the question is... How are we supposed to know which one was telling the truth?
