Ephesians 4:7-16

CIT: The place and purpose of gifts in the body of Christ.
PROPOSITION: Every member must find their place in ministry.
INTRODUCTION
ILLUS: Singing in Handel’s Messiah - every instrument in the orchestra, each of the Soloists, every voice in the choir - even those who were really in over their heads - even those in attendance who never sang a note - had a role to play in the production. 2) Prophets- Not ordinary believers with the gift of prophecy. These were men who were commissioned by the early Church. They received direct revelation from God. ILLUS: Agabus. Acts 11:28, 21:10-11. These two offices were foundational ministries in the early Church. They have been replaced by the stable teaching and evangelizing ministries.

4) Pastors/Teachers-This is best understood as one office. Ministers of the local congregations. Teaching Elders. They lead the flock by preaching the Word of God.
