I’m in a sermon series on Sunday mornings called, Family Foundations. Over the next several weeks we’re going to talk about marriage, parenting, family connections, and how to build our families on the principles of God’s Word. God create the family and He’s the one who knows how our families should operate. So, for the wisdom we need we go to the Word of God.
Today, from Philippians 2:1-4, I’m preaching on this subject, The Secret to a Happy Family. And you may wonder when you hear that title, ‘‘Is there really a secret to having a happy family? This has to be some kind of joke!’’ Well, I don’t want to oversimplify this thing. Because I know our family relationships can be very complicated. But I’m going to give you an important principle today that I believe will be a difference-maker for your family. And yes, it could be the secret to having a happy family.
Before I tell you the secret, let’s look at our text today and see what God’s Word has to say to our lives. READ TEXT So, here it is. If I had to describe this secret in one word, here’s what that word would be: SELFLESSNESS. Write that down in your notes or in the margin of your Bible. That’s the key to having the kind of family God wants us to have.
*In his book Leaders Eat Last, Simon Sinek explains the secret to team success. Sinek found himself amazed, even a bit humbled, by the character of the men and women in our armed forces.
