How to Continue in Joy!
Marvin Patterson
Philippians 3:1-9
Introduction:
Paul is encouraging the Philippian believers that they need to maintain their joy! He goes on to share in this passage how God makes you clean on the inside when you exercise your faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ! He literally swaps with us! When we trust Christ as our Savior, He takes our sins upon Himself, and swaps with us and gives us the righteousness of God which only comes through Christ! Now when God looks at our record, He doesn’t see our sin, but He sees the righteousness of Jesus Christ and he pronounces us ‘‘Not Guilty.’’
Paul uses repetition in in the first verse to help these believers remember and learn the truths about salvation by grace. Sometimes it is good to repeat some truths! When we go through these truths you will understand why Paul was repeating these matters, because they deal with the most important matters of mankind, and that being salvation by grace in Jesus Christ!
I heard about a woman talking to her husband one time, and she burst into tears and said, ‘‘I cannot remember the last time you told me you loved me.’’ He said, ‘‘I told you 47 years ago when we got married that I loved you, and if I ever change my mind I’ll let you know.’’
With that in mind, let us jump into this third chapter and see all the wonderful truths that God wants to teach us!
You Can enjoy a wonderful Christian Life!
