Series: Book of 2 Samuel

2 Samuel 2:1-4:12
Introduction
Between Christmas break, quarantining, snow days, schools shutting down because of not enough staff, man the past number of weeks have felt a lot like 2020 all over again. Working from the kitchen table while helping the kids do school work. Trying to learn new math is hard! It’s also meant a lot of T.V. binging again, watching new shows, shows we’ve seen before, shows we’ve heard lots about but haven’t gotten around to trying. The Netflix show, thus, picks up thirty years later to see how LaRusso has become a successful business owner; meanwhile, Johnny Lawrence has become a dead-beat who never quite got over that loss. As a viewer, of course, you see all new sides of the characters as you root each episode for all these broken relationships (dads and children, kids and bullies, old rivals) to finally work it out and reconcile.
Of course, with a T.V. show you can’t ever get to the resolution, because it’s the conflict that keeps the show going. It’s incredibly frustrating, because every time you think we’re finally going to turn a corner, there’s a set-back. Every time we think the happy ending is ...
