Introduction
1. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. There have been certain photographs taken throughout history that were so iconic that they put places and people on the map and made them famous. Here are just a few.
Boxing fans will know this one. [Photo on Muhammed Ali]. This is one of the most famous boxing pictures taken in history as he stands over a defeated foe.
This next picture [show raising flag on Iwo-Jima] This is the most famous military picture every taken. This put a tiny island called ‘‘Iwo Jima’’ on the map, because otherwise we would have probably never heard of this place.
[Show Michael Jordan]-This may be the most famous silhouette ever photographed. Of course, we all know who that is. This image of Michael Jordan is seen on shoes, clothing, and bedroom walls everywhere around the world. The Air-Jordan brand earned 3.2 billion dollars a year recently.
[Show US Airways Flight 1549]. This plane put a commercial pilot, Sully Sullenberger on the map as one of the greatest landings in commercial aviation history on the Hudson River.
Finally, if you know anything about 9/11 [Show Obama/bin Laden photo] this picture as President Obama watches the raid on Osama bin Laden will be forever etched into our memories.
2. If we had had cameras twenty-five hundred years ago there would be a picture today that would have put a man by the name of Moses on the map. [Jody - show a still picture of the Charlton Heston scene parting the Red Sea]. It looks something like this. It put Moses on the map and put Moses in the movie. This crossing of the Red Sea is mentioned more times in the Old Testament than the Passover. It is found in four other books in the Old Testament and even pagan unbelievers had heard of this unbelievable event.
