Introduction

1. We live in by any measurement perhaps the richest nation in the history of the world. We are worth more than the next three richest countries in the world put together. Out of seven hundred nineteen billionaires, with a net worth that is greater than the third and fourth richest countries in the world, you would think that we are eating the meat and drinking the sweet. In a recent study, thirty-eight million American families, about one out of every three U.S. households is living ‘‘hand to mouth.’’ That is they have just enough to survive day-to-day.

2. I would never ask you to raise your hand, but how many of you today think you are living hand to mouth? I am going to say something that is going to shock you. Whether you are barely making the end of the month meet the end of the money or you are set for life, every single person on this planet lives hand to mouth. What do I mean? We all live from God’s hand to our mouth. We are going to see that today in the series we are calling ‘‘Red Sea Moments.’’

3. We are studying the life of Moses. Without question, Moses was one of the three greatest figures in the Old Testament. If God had a
Mt. Rushmore he would certainly be on it. When you study his life you realize that he was a human being just like us. He went through things just like we do. The way that God worked in his life is the way God wants to work in ours. We all face Red Sea moments.

4. Now the last time we left Moses and the children of Israel they had just walked through the Red Sea. Just as God had promised he had delivered them from the Egyptians. Now they are ready to start making their journey to Canaan - The Promise Land. We pick up the story in Exodus chapter 16.
