Introduction
1. Can you think of a more important meeting that you can have than with the most powerful person on planet earth, the President of the United States? As I have shared with you before, unexpectedly, I had that meeting in the Oval Office, with President George W. Bush the week after 9/11. I won’t recount that story to you, but I do want to tell you a part of that story I have never told.
2. I was so excited about having been a part of that meeting that I called a man who was like my second dad, Freddie Gage, who along with Adrian Rogers had perhaps the greatest impact on my life and put into me a fire and a passion for winning people to Jesus. I called Freddie and I said, ‘‘Freddie, you will never believe who I met with today.’’ He said, ‘‘Who?’’ I said, ‘‘I just had the greatest meeting of my life. I met with President Bush.’’ Freddie never missed a beat. He said, ‘‘James, I had a far more important meeting than that.’’ I was stunned. I said, ‘‘With who?’’ He said, ‘‘It is the same meeting I have every day. I met with God.’’ You could have heard my balloon pop all the way to the moon!
3. Every day of life is like an investment and what you are investing is probably the most valuable thing you have - your time. The question is, ‘‘On a daily basis, what is the single most important investment of your time you can possibly make?’’ We are in a series of messages that we are calling ‘‘Red Sea Moments’’ studying the life of one of the greatest giants in the Bible named Moses. In Exodus 19 , we learn without question what is the greatest single investment we can make with our life every single day that is guaranteed to give us the greatest rate of return. We are going to see today without question it is taking time to meet with God.
