Introduction

1. It is one thing to have a throbbing headache but it is an entirely different thing to have a throbbing headache that never leaves you. It is 24/7 misery. Li fuyan could testify to that. This chinese man had gone to every doctor, every specialist and tried every treatment you could think of to get rid of his throbbing headaches, but nothing helped. No medicine, no relaxation exercise, no therapy did any good. Finally, an x-ray revealed the problem. Four years earlier, he had weathered an attack by a robber and in the fight not only had he suffered severe cuts on the right side of his jaw, but a rusty four-inch knife blade had been lodged in his skull for four years and he didn’t know the blade had broken off inside his head. When there is a foreign object inside your body that doesn’t belong in your body, your body was created in a way you are going to know it and it is going to hurt until you get it out.

2. What is true of the body is even more true of the soul. There is an emotion that we all deal with at times and in fact some of us live with it every day. It can wake you up in the middle of night or even keep you from going to sleep until the middle of the night. Left untreated, it can literally drive you mad. It is like a ghost that haunts every hallway of your life. It is the face that you see every time you look in the mirror. It is a dark cloud that hovers over your head on the sunniest of days and you soon find you can’t run from it, much less hide from it. Yet, it is operable. It is curable. Once removed, you will experience a release and a freedom that is purely exhilarating. I am talking about guilt.
