Trusting God When Overwhelmed (2 of 8)
Series: Elisha

2 Kings 3:1-24, 4:1-7
Have you ever found yourself in a tight spot? A difficult situation? - Sure you have ... in fact you are usually in one, coming out of one, or headed into one right? - Life is full of difficult situations, tough spots, dry times, challenging obstacles ... we face temptation, trials ... sometimes we get ourselves into situations, and sometimes it’s product of a fallen world. At times Elisha ministered to people in difficult spots that simply needed help. - In today’s texts we will see him interact with a group of 3 kings and then briefly see a story of him ministering to a prophet’s widow. In both accounts these people find themselves in a difficult place, in a time of need ... they find themselves in a situation where they need God to show up. This is really what life is all about. - We are always in NEED. We are always dependent on the Lord ... but some circumstances make us FEEL that NEED more. We will see today ... What is overwhelming to us ... is not for God. We need to live trusting Him, dependent on Him, casting all our cares on Him. So how do we do that? What are some principles for trusting God when we encounter heavy times. In today’s two stories we see a group of kings in a tough spot, a hard time ... and then we see a prophet’s widow in a tough spot, encountering hard days ... in both situations God comes through showing Himself to be the One True God ... showing that as Elisha’s name states ... He does in fact SAVE. - He is a rescuing God.
