Today, we’ll be continuing this series of messages I’m calling, ‘‘Holy Land Highlights.’’ In my opinion, the single greatest investment a person can make in their spiritual walk with the Lord... is to visit the Holy Land and walk where Jesus walked.
In my life, that first trip was a gamechanger... [I’ve never read my Bible the same way again...] and because of that experience in my own life, I now want to bring as many people back with me... as possible... so they too can go on this spiritual pilgrimage and experience it in their lives. Now, I realize that most believers in America will never have the opportunity to leave home and go to the Holy Land... and that’s really what led me to preach this series of messages in the format that I’m preaching it.
A few years ago, while I was in Israel, I thought... ‘If people can’t leave home and go to the Holy Land... then why don’t we do our best to bring the Holy Land back home?’
And that’s exactly what we’re doing today. So far in this journey, we’ve visited:
The Shepherds Field in Bethlehem-We saw how Jesus is our Good Shepherd, our Great Shepherd, and our Chief Shepherd, even today.
The Sea of Galilee-We saw how Jesus called His disciples and how He continues to come to us and call us to leave our nets and follow him.
The town of Capernaum-This was the home base for Jesus and his disciples for the 3 years he ministered around the Sea. We talked about the miracles Jesus performed here and then we focused on the faith of 4 young men... they had so much faith that they were willing to do whatever it took to get their paralyzed friend to Jesus. We saw how God not only recognized our faith, but he responds to it and rewards it.
